As of March 2020, the entire world has gone into a huge recession. As business owners, we are constantly looking for ways to keep our businesses afloat. This could be anything from learning how to get your business online – like an e-commerce site – to communicating with your customers through video chat. Regardless of all the new skills you may have learned this year, here are 5 solid steps we’ve come up with to help you grow and maintain your business.
Pivoting
As millions of stores and small businesses are shut down across the country, small businesses need to pivot and find what works best for them. Although we cannot have much personal access inside our stores and businesses, we need to find other ways to push across our products and services. E-commerce is BIGGER then ever and is a great way to get your products out there without having in person customers.
Leveraging Our Platforms
We need to use our platforms - whether that be websites, word to mouth, and any marketing strategy (think social media and video marketing!) that works for your business. Don’t be afraid to push and use this as a way to get your new business plans and ideas across.
Social Media Ads
In our local areas, we may not be able to push enough business to stay open. So how do we look to get our products and services out to a larger demographic? Social media advertisement will allow your ads to go to people who have interest in similar things that you are selling or offering. This will assure that your business will be showed to a majority of people that will be interested in what you are offering.
More Graphics
Going back to social media advertisement, nothing draws eyes like graphics. Imaging and graphics will make for more clicks and views of your products depending on how enticing you make them. Don’t be afraid to go BIG and BOLD.
Traditional Public Relations
Although you can follow everything listed above, using traditional public relations will never go out of style. Some examples are using sources such as newspapers, media, radio and broadcasting to get out your business to your local market. Word travels fast and people who support you will always spread the word for you. Newspapers and local signs and billboards will make sure the people who support you will still help your business in whatever fashion you are offering them.
Since we don’t know exactly what 2021 will bring us, it’s important to prepare your business for any changes that still may occur. Pivoting and being flexible will not only show your customers that you are still open and available – by that you’ll work hard adjusting to their needs during this time.
