How to Differentiate Your Website from the Competition

Entrepreneurs are aware of the need of having a website. Although having a website used to be optional for companies, this has long ago changed. So how can you ensure that your website is of high quality and stands out from the competition?

Clarity

In as few words as possible, you must convey who you are and what you do to the public. Being an entrepreneur makes it simple to wax lyrical about what you do since you are so enthusiastic about it! However, prospective customers prefer clear, concise text. Naturally, there are exceptions to this rule based on the business you work in, but for the most part, you should attempt to keep long paragraphs to a minimum on your website. Friends, repeat after me: succinct, sweet, and CLEAR.

Navigation

There are two types of individuals in the world: tabbers and scrollers, who just keep scrolling until they discover what they want (those who skip ahead and search for what they need using the tabs and links you provide). To ensure that you are reaching as many prospective customers as possible, you must keep both in mind while creating and developing your website. Simply because your website was created for a different kind of "Googler," you don't want to lose them. Offering a fantastic (and straightforward) user experience may help you stand out from the competition.

Video

These days, the popularity of video is growing outside of social media. Almost wherever they go, people demand high-quality video material. Budget for high-quality production and plan where to utilize video on your site to effectively convey your message since short-form video content is now king. Take advantage of the fact that video keeps visitors on websites 50% longer according to studies!

Branding

Follow your brand guidelines, and if you don't have any, make some before beginning the web design process. Your website should adhere to the pre-approved standards that your brand guide establishes for you since high-quality websites need high-quality graphics. For example, a logo, hex codes, typefaces, photographs, and more may be used.

Visuals

Your graphics go beyond just a headshot and stock photographs; in fact, you may want to think about spending money on a separate photoshoot that is purely intended to produce images for your website. Despite the fact that stock photos are excellent, anybody may use them. A excellent strategy to stand out from the competition is to have photographs that are yours and that reflect the tone and aesthetic of your company.

Mobile

It's not any longer desktop versus mobile. It's both desktop and mobile. You must have a website that looks fantastic and is simple to use in both modes. Make sure the designer and template you're using can handle both.

Update

Update your website often. Never let a month pass without checking your website for periodic maintenance. Update the blog, check that your plug-ins are functional and secure, etc. Additionally, think about hiring someone if doing a monthly check-up is beyond your comfort zone.
